To honor the anniversary of my father John Shanafelt's passing on July 15, 1998,

My father, a lawyer by trade, and an artist at heart will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
His far too short a time spent on this earth brought many people joy, love, and happiness.

You couldn't meet my father, and not end up walking away as a dear friend.
He was just that kind of person.
Quiet, soft-spoken, but with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, yet a laugh like Santa when he felt like it.

His many hobbies ranged from model car kits to vintage automobiles,
but one of his favorite things, was his great love of Disneyland, most notably...
The Haunted Mansion.

He'd hurry us to the park in the morning,
so we could be the first to ride the Mansion,
and it was always the last attraction we went on at the end of the day.

The times I spent with my father at Disneyland & the Haunted Mansion
are some of my dearest memories I have of him.

When I miss him, I think of it, and I feel worlds better.
I can almost hear the foyer music now...
